Before you contribute
The Physics Lab Exchange hosts experimentation-focused lab curriculum that is open-ended and open-procedure.
Open-ended: Students don’t know the outcome in advance. These labs are open-answer, with results that are surprising, ambiguous, or genuinely unknown to students.
Open-procedure: Students have opportunities to make decisions about the experiment: for example,
- Experimental design
- Data collection
- Data analysis and interpretation
If you aren’t sure whether your curriculum qualifies, contact us. We offer coaching sessions to give feedback and help you improve your lab curriculum.
The Physics Lab Exchange does not host traditional “verification” lab curriculum, where:
- Experiments demonstrate established knowledge.
- Students follow fixed protocols.
You can choose between two collections of resources to submit your curriculum to:
Collection
A space for sharing lab materials that are newly designed or still in progress.
Access: Visible only to verified educators.
Collection
A curated set of resources that have gone through a review process.
To qualify, materials must:
- Be open-ended (open-answer) and have opportunities for student decision making
- Have been used in class with real students
- Be high-quality as defined by our review rubric
- Answer every question on the contribute page
Access: Publicly available — no login required.
