AAPT PERLOC Community Connections: Ditch the Recipe, Keep the Science: Open-Ended Physics Labs for Discovery

Abstract

How do you take a traditional, verification lab and make it open-ended and skills-based? In this workshop, we will present big ideas from PER about restructuring physics labs to focus on experimental physics skills, concepts, and understandings, rather than on verifying known principles.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take one of their own labs and devise ways to restructure it to make it open-ended and skills-based.
